Calgarske Listy

Is a periodical published by the Calgary Branch of the Czech and Slovak Association of Canada.  The main objective of this quarterly publication is to inform Czechs and Slovaks of cultural events, trips, information regarding the Czech Republic (i.e. citizenship's, travel visas, etc.), articles from readers, and advertisements from Czech or Slovak persons owned businesses.  Authors are usually Czechs and Slovaks living in and around Calgary and some are from other parts of the world.  The editors are in close collaboration with the office of Honorary Consulate in Calgary.  This publication is written mainly in Czech and Slovak, but there are usually 1 or 2 articles written in English.  The Calgarske Listy is mailed to approx.. 200 addresses in Calgary and surrounding areas. We are aware through statistical facts that there are over 6,000 people born in the former Czechoslovakia that now reside in Alberta.  And although interest in the Calgarske Listy increased in 2000, the total readership is still low.
